CPGjobs gets diversity ideas, connections during outreach
Executives from CPGjobs have returned from a series of road trips “better connected and better able to help our clients build the diverse workforces needed to lead their companies.” “Budgeting season is a good time to secure the resources you need to recruit the industry’s top talent,” company President Michael Carrillo said. “Many companies rely on CPGjobs to augment their own diversity efforts and ensure extra diligence throughout the hiring process. We provide employers with diverse talent pools and multiple layers of third-party support.” Ethnic minorities comprise 18 to 20 percent the firm’s candidates, he noted.
“It’s tempting to think that quality talent will find its way to you,” the recruiting executive said. “But what we witnessed on the road is that competition for the best candidates is fierce -- only those employers who extend themselves will have access to the top tier of candidates. But you can’t be everywhere at once -- CPGjobs can be a powerful force multiplier for you own diversity recruiting efforts.”
Force multiplier
CPGjobs has emphasized diversity since its inception, Carrillo said. “We know how important it is to a company’s competitiveness. Diverse teams produce diverse thinking, and that makes them better adapted to reach today's multicultural markets and lead today’s increasingly diverse workforces.”
Carrillo says that diversity management has evolved beyond race and gender to include factors like ethnicity, age, religion, education, physical ability, sexual preference, work experience, income, geographical location and job specialty. “CPGjobs helps you combine these variables and create diverse work teams that give your company a competitive edge.”
“We reach out to traditionally under-represented communities, support diversity efforts in our industry, and offer direct diversity support to employers,” Carrillo said. "In addition to personal and active candidate outreach, CPGjobs provides clients with diversity support through direct consultation, diversity news and advice on our website, in our monthly newsletter, and more. Our industry experience and personal knowledge of our candidates provide you with a diverse pool of qualified executives and helps ensure that the strength of diversity is built into every CPGjobs search. Ask your CPGjobs customer support specialist for more information on how we can help you reach your diversity goals."
“CPGjobs supports organizations that support business diversity, enabling us to reach the best talent inside and outside the CPG industry. We are a founding member of the California Diversity Council (part of the National Diversity Council), a corporate sponsor of the Network of Executive Women, and a member of the National Black MBA Association, the National Society of Hispanic MBAs, the Society for Human Resource Management and Human Resource Executive. Our association with these and other organizations enables us to represent you in the diverse communities that increasingly lead our industry.” He added that "diversity in leadership is something we take great pride in. It is rooted in our corporate belief that diversity of culture, heritage and thought are building blocks to innovation, growth and excellence.”
Representatives of the industry-leading recruiting firm attended the National Society of Hispanic MBAs October 4-6 in Houston, the Network of Executive Women’s Leadership Summit October 15-16 in Dallas, and the National Black MBA Association Expo September 11-16 in Atlanta. A these networking event they met hundreds of clients, prospects and candidates. In September CPGjobs attended an all-star diversity symposium hosted by the California Diversity Council in San Francisco. “The consumer packaged goods companies at these events are really walking their talk when it comes to diversity,” he said. “It was gratifying to meet so many of our clients and watch them in action.”
Committed to diversity
Carrillo said CPGjobs is committed “to providing a diverse candidate pool to our clients because our clients want it, because it’s right, and because it is the smart thing to do. Companies with a diverse leadership respond better to their customers, have more dynamic decision-making, better morale, fewer grievances and, ultimately, a better bottom line.”
CPGjobs has been meeting clients and introducing its revamped recruiting services to potential employers for the past several months. The firm’s updated menu of options includes the Pay-per-Hire package that offers unlimited job postings and guaranteed hires, and People Finder, a resume search tool that gives employers a weekly update on candidates who’ve expressed an interest in working for them. The firm will continue to offer Pay Per Post and professional recruiting services in addition to its new Pay Per Hire service.

$64 BILLION DOLLAR QUESTION: A new study reported by Hunt-Scanlon’s Diversity Newswire reveals that workplace unfairness costs U.S. employers an estimated $64 billion per year in turnover of managers and professionals, in addition to costs from decreased sales of products and services and damaged employer reputation. "The Corporate Leavers Survey," conducted by the Level Playing Field Institute and sponsored by Korn/Ferry International, finds that each year more than 2 million professionals and managers leave their corporate employers due solely to workplace unfairness. According to the survey, people of color are three times more likely and gays and lesbians are twice as likely as heterosexual Caucasian males to have left their jobs due solely to workplace unfairness. The behaviors most likely to prompt someone to quit were: "being asked to attend more recruiting or community events" based on their race, gender, religion or sexual orientation (16 percent), "being passed over for a promotion" (15 percent) and "being compared to a terrorist" (19 percent). Although the actual incidence rate of being compared to a terrorist was small (2 percent), when it did occur, it had was one of the behaviors most frequently associated with a decision to quit.
