Position Responsibilities:	Kellogg Company has a Food Product Development Scientist opportunity available working within the Cost Optimizing Group in Battle Creek, MI. Responsibilities include: - Reformulate, organize, manage, and coordinate important cost optimization projects while increasing the level of understanding of projects, processes, and methods, as well as giving general direction to assigned teams in accomplishing projects on technical and scientific investigation or developments. - Reformulate existing products and to improve product margins. Work with superior quality consumer goods such as Kellogg`s, Frosted Flakes, Mini-Wheats, Special K, Froot Loops, Apple Jacks, and others. - Assume the role of project leader and technical problem solver as a team with Kellogg professionals: Developers, Quality Managers, Marketing, Marketing Research, Nutrition and labeling, Manufacturing, Engineers and Cost Optimization Managers. - Involvement in a broad spectrum of activities, including process development, product reformulation, pilot and plant tests and plant start-ups. - Provide technical or scientific direction and expertise within the department in project pipeline development including project feasibility tests, ingredient formulation for cost savings determination, scoping document support and participation in ideation processes. . - Exhibit innovation in discovery, advancement, and evaluation of new technologies in the area of food/process research and development, which can have a significant impact on new products, improved products or processes, and/or capital avoidance. - Support the financial planning and reporting process through the timely and accurate completion of annual plans, estimates, and month end close. - Function effectively as a Project Manager, Planner, Coordinator, Communicator and Technical Expert. Minimum: High School Diploma and 10 yrs of related experience, a Bachelor`s Degree in food science, food technology, engineering or other scientific Degree with 6 years experience, MS in Food Science or related discipline with 4 years experience, OR PhD in Food Science or related discipline with 2 years of experience. Masters degree highly preferred. - Proven track record of leadership, product formulation or reformulation, cost consciousness, communication skills, and diplomacy that have resulted in good relations with all facets of management and other technical/scientific disciplines. - Up to 30%-40% travel to manufacturing or test facilities. - Flexibility to work beyond normal workday hours, shift work, and some weekends. Operation of process equipment may be required.
