Responsible for driving the development and implementation of the organization`s package development function, supplier quality management program, and the imports/international assurance program. This position interfaces directly with internal business units on behalf of the Quality Services Organization. Additionally, this position is responsible for playing an integral role in ensuring that the organization delivers new packaging options which meet recognized consumer needs, while guaranteeing that ingredients, supplies and imported products are managed to reduce total risk and drive organizational cost savings.

| Position Responsibilities: |
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - Functions as the direct liaison to corporate business units, the supplier development team and the consumer/products insights team. - Participates in the development and launching of new packaging designs. - Identifies and implements cost reduction opportunities. - Develops relationships with alternate packaging suppliers. - Collaborates with the global sourcing team to ensure that imported wine and spirits are managed to minimize consumer risk and conform to established corporate specifications and standards. - Supports the new products process by participating in new product launches and establishing quality standards for products prior to initial production. - Participates in research-development and engineering processes for new products. - Compiles statistical data and writes narrative reports summarizing quality assurance findings. - Develops the master plan timetable for quality assurance initiatives. - Conducts audits and assessments of key suppliers and international partners to ensure conformity to corporate quality standards. - Develops and monitors key metrics; inspects and tests schemes to assess the quality of products, packaging supplies/suppliers and ingredients. - Develops, implements and coordinates the inspection, sampling and testing of quality control/quality assurance specifications. - Develops quality standards and implementation programs for supplies/components, finished products and packaging. - Reviews data for product defects, product response plans and product dispositions; recommends and implements improvements. - Drafts narrative reports summarizing quality assurance findings, issues, and concerns. - Develops and maintains operating budget and capital spending plans. - Utilizes quality feedback data from customers and consumers to drive continual improvement activities needed to achieve department strategic goals. - Develops and implements a successful vision/strategy, through strong leadership skills. - Plans manpower requirements needed to accomplish objectives. - Monitors the achievement of performance goals and objectives either directly or through subordinate staff. - Oversees projects that have short to long term focus. - Balances planning efforts with day to day demands. - Ensures GMP, safety, and quality. - Must maintain satisfactory attendance, to include timeliness. - Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality, environmental and safety regulatory considerations. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Develops, coaches and mentors subordinate staff. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - High school diploma or GED. - Bachelor`s of Science degree plus 8 years of manufacturing/production quality service experience to include 4 years of leadership/management experience. - Available to travel internationally when required. - Vision necessary to identify quality issues with product and materials. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - Master`s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, or Enology. - Food and beverage industry experience. - Experience managing complex product investigations relying on various systems and groups. - Experience reading, analyzing and interpreting common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents. - Experience responding to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community. - Experience writing speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. - Experience effectively presenting information to top management, public groups and boards of directors. - Skilled in the use of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project at an intermediate level; MS Access and LIMS at a basic level.. - Skilled in applying advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations and permutations. - Skilled in applying mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory and factor analysis. - Experience applying principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. - Skilled in dealing with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs) in its most difficult phases. - Experience dealing with a variety of abstract and concrete variables. - Experience working with all levels and functions within the company. |
