Position Responsibilities: Summary:


The Sensory Scientist will work independently and as part of a team to execute sensory testing necessary to develop new products and new technologies for cost and quality improvements. The individual will apply knowledge of food systems, the human senses, and statistical models to describe and quantify the sensory differences between food products and ingredients.





Responsibilities include design and execution of test protocols, data collection, analysis, interpretation, and reporting, and training of descriptive analysis panels. In addition to internal sensory tests, the scientist will execute consumer tests to provide direction for Product Development and/or Marketing.



The individual will interact extensively with Product Development, Food Science, Marketing, Quality and Regulatory Compliance, Operations Engineering, Marketing Research, and Manufacturing Operations personnel.



Responsibilities:


*

Meeting with internal clients to define test objectives, then designing test protocols (includes difference tests, descriptive analysis, shelf life, consumer testing, and troubleshooting).

Training sensory panels for individual projects and as part of the new panelist training program.

*

Analyzing and interpreting data; communicating results both verbally and in writing

*

Routine meetings with Sensory colleagues to gain and maintain alignment on methods, procedures, protocols, and terminology.

Supporting quality initiatives/teams

Professional and Organizational Training

Administrative meetings




Qualifications:


* Sensory Methods and Test Design

* Experimental Design and Statistical Analysis

* Computer skills (Word, Excel, StatGraphics or SAS, PowerPoint)

* Ability to interact effectively with large and diverse group of people

* Ability to multi-task and prioritize with limited supervision

* Excellent organizational and communication skills





Education:





Research Scientist B.S. or M.S. degree in Food Science, Psychology, or Statistics with emphasis in Sensory Science





Sr. Research Scientist B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. degree in Food Science, Psychology or Statistics with emphasis in Sensory Science





Experience:





Research Scientist minimum of two to five years applicable work experience with Sensory and Consumer testing





Sr. Research Scientist minimum of five to ten years applicable work experience with Sensory and Consumer testing
