Marshall School of Business -- University of Southern California – Los Angeles, California
The Marshall EMBA Program pioneered a successful thematic MBA curriculum that gets to the heart of issues with which senior managers and seasoned professionals grapple. We use a teaching approach that emphasizes the importance of functional interaction. Moreover, we concentrate learning objectives on the "interrelatedness" of business functions as opposed to a deep theoretical learning of individual functions. We deliver an effective blend of theory and practice through carefully sequenced individual class sessions. There are no stand-alone courses in statistics, economics, accounting or any of the traditional business school disciplines. Rather, you are exposed to several functional areas simultaneously allowing you to gain useful cross-functional skills. The skill set you develop in the first-year includes cash flow, value chain, and product life-cycle analysis. In the second year, you apply skills learned in the first year to issues such as understanding key international financial market relationships and strategic planning for growth. While working full-time, you will complete the Marshall EMBA Program in twenty-two months. Classes meet one full day per week on alternating Fridays and Saturdays. We believe that weekly contact assures continuity in learning. Class meetings include three off-campus residential sessions; two domestic and one international. The two domestic off-site sessions, of six and two days respectively, are scheduled for the beginning of year one and the end of year two. The international off-site is a seven-day overseas study scheduled for the fall of year two. We break for the summer between the first and second year for ten weeks.
